Is this a free site?
The Corporate Fitness League is a 100% free website. You will never be asked to pay to use any of the services on this site, ever. All you need is an email address and a group of people with a desire to lose weight. Unlike other weight loss websites that make you pay to use their services, the Corporate Fitness League believes losing weight should be 100% free. Dieting (reducing calorie intake) does not cost money, exercising (walking, stretching) does not cost money, and this website does not cost money for anyone to use.

My office (less than 10 people) just wants to play among ourselves. How do we set it up?
If your office just has a few people (up to 10) that just want to play among themselves, all you need to do is have one person sign up as the Captain. The Captain then enters the team members and sets up the competition start date and length. The competition will automatically begin on the start date. Each week, the Captain enters the weights.

My office wants to play against another office within our company. How do we set it up?
In this scenario, you will need people to sign up as Captains - one Captain per team. Each Captain will then enter their team members. One of these Captains will have to create the competition, and then challenge the other Captain(s) using the CFL invite system. Once the other Captain(s) accepts the invite(s), all the teams are linked together in the competition. Each week, the Captains enter the weights.

My office wants to play against another office in another company. How do we set it up?
In this scenario, you will first have someone in your office sign up as a Captain and create the competition. You then use the CFL invite system to send an invitation to another office or to one of your friends that works in another office (it does not matter if they are already signed up on the site or not - the CFL invite system can invite others through standard email). You must use our system to send the invites. Once the other person accepts the invite, the teams will be linked to your competition. Each week, the Captains enter the weights.

My company has a couple branches and wants to play against another company with a couple branches. How do we set it up?
In this scenario, you will first have someone in your office sign up as a Captain and create a competition. You then use the CFL invite system to send invitations to people in other offices and in your office (it does not matter if they are already signed up on the site or not - the CFL invite system can invite others through standard email). Once the other people accept the invites and create their teams, the teams will be linked to your competition. Each week, the Captains enter the weights.

How do I challenge other teams?
Once you sign up as a Captain, you can use the CFL invite system (it does not matter if they are already signed up on the site or not - the CFL invite system can invite others through standard email) to invite others to participate in your competition.

How is individual percentage lost calculated?
Individual percentage lost is calculated by comparing the starting weight to each week's weight entered. For example, if Jennifer weighs 150 and loses 15 pounds in week one, her loss will be 10%. If in week two however she gains back the 15 pounds, her percentage lost for week two will be 0%, because she is back at her starting weight. Percentage lost is not tied to the previous week's weight. It is tied to the starting weight.

How is team percentage lost calculated?
Team percentages are calculated by stacking (or adding) the percentages of each team member together. This ensures that someone who weighs 130 pounds can have as big of an impact as someone who weighs 300 pounds. This creates a fair platform and ensures all individuals percentages are treated equally.

Can we weigh in on a day other than Friday?
As long as all teams in the competition understand that the competition's weigh in day is other than Friday, this would be acceptable. If no other arrangements are made between all Captains before the competition begins, the default weigh in day is Friday.

Are the team percentages showing total team pounds lost, or stacked percentages?
Stacked percentages. If Jennifer loses 5%, and Jim loses 5%, the team total is 10%.

My team isn't showing on the scoreboard. Why not?
You must have a competition created and at least one team member added to your team to be visible on the scoreboard.

We started a competition a few weeks ago and just saw your site. Can we enter all our info and use your site for the remaining weeks of our existing competition?
No. The system's weight entry table only allows weights entered per date. The system does not allow "backdating" of weights. This helps protect the integrity of the information entered.

My team is currently in a competition with a few weeks left, but we also want to start playing another team now. Is this possible?
Not with your existing team. Each team can only be in one competition at a time. You may however create a new login and create a new team. Then use the new login and new team to play the second, overlapping competition.

I wasn't able to enter somebody's weight for a particular week. The field is now locked. How does the system calculate a blank in the weight entry table?
If there is a weight not entered for a particular week, the system will use the previous week's weight as a default.

One of our team members is no longer with the company and we're right in the middle of our competition. What do we do?
The system will insert the most recent week's weight as the default weight for the remainder of the competition. You cannot delete, add, replace or change team members once a competition begins.

One of our team members doesn't want to play anymore. What do we do?
The system will insert the most recent week's weight as the default weight for the remainder of the competition. You cannot delete, add, replace, or change team members once a competition begins.

What about cheating? Anyone could put any weight in the system just to try and win.
This is true. We hope the users of this system understand the reason why we're on this site is to lose weight by making long-tem, healthier lifestyle choices. Be honest with yourself about your lifestyle habits, and you will achieve success each week.

The team we're playing has a few less players than us. Is that ok?
There are no system requirements as far as the number of players. For example, it's ok for a team of 5 people to play a team of 7 people as long as all Captains agree.

I need to change the start date and number of weeks of my competition. Is that possible?
In the Captain's area, the Captain who creates the competition may change the start date and the number of weeks for your competition. Once the competition begins however you can not edit the competition. Once the Captain sends out invites, the competition cannot be edited.

This site is called Corporate Fitness League. Does my office or company need to meet certain employee or financial requirements because of the word Corporate?
There are no requirements. The name was chosen because we want to promote office weight loss competitions. Families and other people interested in having weight loss competitions are also free to use the site. Challenge your family, friends from college, your friends, couples in your neighborhood - anyone can use the site. You can have a team of just one person, or up to ten people.

Can I use this site if my family or friends want to set up a competition?
Yes. Families and other people interested in having weight loss competitions are also free to use the site. Challenge your family, friends from college, your friends, couples in your neighborhood - anyone can use the site. You can have a team of just one person, or up to ten people.

What is this site about?
The Corporate Fitness League website is a meeting place for offices and companies that want to get involved in weight loss competitions. People who work in offices get teams together with Captains, and challenge other teams to lose the most weight at the end of a specified time period (1 - 12 weeks).

Can people see my actual weight?
No. The weights of individuals are not able to be seen by anyone, ever. The competition is about total percentage weight loss for your team. Team and individual percentages are viewable on the website.

How does the weight information get entered?
Every Friday is National Weigh Day. Everyone weighs in Friday morning at work, and the captains enter the information on our secure site. The site then calculates who is winning and who is losing, viewable on the scoreboard.

Do I really have to step on a scale at work?
Yes. You cannot track weight loss unless you step on a scale. The scale is usually placed in a cube or private place, where only the Captain (or a trustworthy individual) and the team member can see the weight.

Can't I just step on the scale at home and give the captain my score?
No. All team members must have their weights recorded at the work.

I don't want anyone to know what I weigh. Not even the captain.
Unfortunately, you cannot enter into a competition. You must weigh in and have your weight recorded.

Is this gambling?
No. This is a competition. You are playing against other people, not against odds.

Can we up the ante a little in our office?
Yes! This is strongly encouraged. For example, teams or individuals can contribute $20 each. Winner can take all or you can have prizes for second and third places. The Corporate Fitness League does not oversee or get involved in bets or antes. This is up to the team Captains to organize and resolve.

Where do we get a scale?
Scales are available in most department stores. You will need a digital scale that has at least one decimal point for this competition. Digital scales are easier to record and reduce the possibilities of ties.

How is a winner declared?
A winner is declared by our system calculating which team loses the most percentage of weight during the competition. You can track weekly results on the scoreboard.
